Our Story

Bare Philippines was founded by Marianna Ines Lopez, Chairman of the Red Cross Youth Health Committee of Quezon City and a student at International School Manila. As a volunteer in her Barangay's Nutrition Action Office (BNAO), she was exposed to a variety of hygiene and sanitation-related diseases of major concern in the Philippines that she had never heard of at school.

She began providing additional support to the Barangay's initiatives by donating slippers and hygiene kits to the programs and kids who participated in them. But she realized that simply supplying them with equipment was not enough. With the help of people in her local BNAO and fellow student volunteers, she started working with teachers in her city to integrate lesson plans on how to properly use the materials provided to take care of their health and bodies.

From there, Bare was born and has expanded beyond providing the bare essentials of slippers and hygiene kits to enabling access to telehealth services in far-flung rural areas and incorporating health education in the curriculums of children around the Philippines.
